Shingle Roof Repair in Huntsville, AL
Serving Huntsville, Madison and the surrounding Madison County communities from 7738 Madison Blvd #119. Emergency lines are answered 24 hours a day.
Shingle roof repair replaces damaged asphalt shingles and corrects the underlying installation defects that let them fail. Because asphalt shingles are a layered, sealed system, a proper repair means unsealing the courses above, replacing from the correct point in the sequence, and re-nailing to the manufacturer's pattern rather than face-nailing over the top.
What shingle roof repair looks like in Huntsville
Asphalt covers the overwhelming majority of Huntsville roofs, from the architectural laminates on newer builds in Providence and Hampton Cove to the three-tab roofs still in service across older neighborhoods. Two failure modes dominate here: heat. Long Alabama summers cook the sealant strip and accelerate granule loss, and the south and west slopes always age first.
What the work includes
- Colour and profile matching against the existing product, with a weathering allowance
- Correct unsealing and replacement sequence so the course above is properly re-bonded
- Manufacturer nailing pattern, in the nail zone, at the right depth, with the right fastener
- Starter course rebuilt at eaves and rakes where it is missing or reversed
- Ridge and hip caps replaced with the matching cap product, not cut field shingles where that is wrong
- Attic ventilation checked, since heat-driven failure is a ventilation problem as often as a material one
Signs you need shingle roof repair
- Curling, cupping or clawing shingle edges
- Bald patches where granules have worn through to the mat
- Cracked or split shingles across a slope
- Exposed or backed-out nail heads
- Dark streaking that is algae rather than damage, but hides damage underneath
- Shingles that feel brittle and snap rather than flex

How we handle it, step by step
The same sequence every time, whether it is two in the afternoon or two in the morning.
You call and a person picks up
No queue, no callback form. We ask what you are seeing, walk you through containment so the damage stops growing while we travel, and give you a real arrival window rather than a slogan.
We stop the water inside first
Before anyone goes up, we drain pooling ceilings deliberately, protect what is below and take moisture readings so we know how far the water has actually travelled.
We find the entry point, not the stain
Water runs along framing before it drops. We trace it from the attic side back to the real opening, because repairing the stain is why leaks come back.
We dry the roof in the same visit
Reinforced tarp or self-adhering membrane, carried over the ridge, wrapped around battens and fastened above the water line. Not a sheet held down with bricks.
You get the documentation before we leave
Dated photographs by slope and elevation, moisture readings, and a written line-item scope for the permanent repair. If a claim is coming, this is the file it is built on.
We come back and repair it properly
Deck, underlayment, flashing and covering rebuilt to manufacturer specification, with the tarp removed as part of the job rather than forgotten on the roof.
Shingle Roof Repair questions
Can you match my existing shingles?
Usually, if the product is still manufactured. Expect a visible difference at first because the existing roof has weathered. On discontinued lines we can sometimes pull matching material from a low-visibility slope, such as behind a dormer, and use new product there instead.
How many shingles can be repaired before replacement makes more sense?
There is no fixed number. The real test is whether the rest of the roof has enough service life to justify the repair. Patching a roof with two years left is throwing money at it. Patching a roof with twelve years left is exactly right.
What is clawing and does it mean my roof is finished?
Clawing is when the edges of a shingle curl upward while the centre stays down. It means the mat is losing moisture and flexibility. It is a late-life signal, and a roof with widespread clawing is generally past repair as a strategy.
Why do my shingles look fine but still leak?
Because shingles are not the only thing on a roof. Check the penetrations and transitions first: boots, flashing, valleys, ridge vent. An intact field with a failed pipe boot is one of the most common leak calls we take.
